„Naszi” - partia prokremlowska prowadzi akcje zastraszania Aleksandra Podrabinka i jego rodziny po opublikowaniu przez niego ostrego artykułu krytykującego czasy sowieckie i tzw. weteranów wojennych (sowieckich). Nachodzą redakcję, dzwonią do sąsiadów, grożą konsekwencjami za jego dziennikarską działalność. Kreml uważa go za jednego z najbardziej zaciekłych krytyków sowieckiej przeszłości oraz dzisiejszej rosyjskiej władzy.
Podrabinek jest dysydentem od początku lat 70-tych. Jako jeden z pierwszych opublikował materiały o wykorzystaniu metod psychiatrycznych w stosunku do więźniów politycznych w ZSSR. Był więziony w łagrach sowieckich (wyroki 5 i 3,5 roku). W 80-tych latach wydawał „Ekspres Kronikę” - konspiracyjny samizdat informacyjny, między innymi o łamaniu praw człowieka w Rosji (1987-2000).
Był współpracownikiem Autonomicznego Wydziału Wschodniego Solidarności Walczącej. W czerwcu 2007 roku Sasza Podrabinek uczestniczył w jubileuszu 25-lecia „Solidarności Walczącej” w Warszawie i we Wrocławiu.
Kierujemy to oświadczenie do wszystkich ludzi dobrej woli, do organizacji broniących prawa człowieka do wolności słowa i sumienia. Nie dopuśćmy, by doszło do kolejnego tragicznego zdarzenia. Apelujemy szczególnie do dziennikarzy: zainteresujcie się sprawą rosyjskiego dysydenta, którego zdrowie i życie są zagrożone.

STATEMENT
of Polish Journalists Association
The Russian pro-Kremlin movement “Nashi” (“Ours”) wages a campaign of intimidation against the journalist Alexander Podrabinek and his family after he published a harsh article criticising the so-called “Soviet war veterans” and the times of the Soviet Union. The intimidators pester the publishing office, call the journalist’s neighbours, and threaten Alexander Podrabinek with a prospective punishment for his journalist’s activity. The Kremlin considers him to be one of the fiercest critics of both the soviet past and contemporary Russia’s authorities.
Alexander Podrabinek has been a dissident since the early 1970-ties. He was among the first to publish information about the use of psychiatric methods against political prisoners in the USSR. He was held prisoner in Soviet force-labour camps twice after he had been sentenced to 5 and 3.5 years of labour, respectively. In the 1980-ties, he published “Express Chronicle” – an underground, samizdat (self published) magazine dealing with, among other things, violation of human rights in Russia (1987-2000).
Alexander Podrabinek cooperated with the Eastern Division of Fighting Solidarity (Polish anti-communist underground organisation). In June 2007, he took part in the organisation’s 25th anniversary celebrated in Warsaw and Wroclaw.
We are addressing this statement to all organisations which defend people’s right to freedom of speech and conscience and to all people of good will. We must not let another tragic event happen. We are calling especially on journalists to take a closer look at the case of a Russian dissident whose health and life are in danger.
